A place of history
This farm was built at the beginning of the XVIIIth century, and a few visits to the museum of the post office of Riquewihr (Haut-Rhin) allowed to trace its life.
It was originally the inn of Willgottheim, a village located on the main road from Strasbourg to Paris. The inn was located between the two post offices of the same village, which made it a very frequented place of passage. It was an unavoidable stop for travelers and the village knew a great event, celebrated at the inn for a whole night: the meeting here of King Louis XV, stopping to receive a certain Marie Leczinska who was to become his wife... The village still remembers it.
Then time passed, the inn flourished until the disappearance of the post offices, the construction of the main roads, the development of transport gradually abandoning this axis from Paris to Strasbourg.
It doesn't matter: it remained the heart of the village, the men remember it with a touch of nostalgia, the women today are delighted to be able to penetrate in this house exclusively reserved for the gentlemen of the time of the inn...
The post-war years of 1945 saw the announced decline of this inn "à l'espérance", which slowly faded away, like the death knell of the German occupation and of libations that the villagers no longer wanted.
The farm, bought by private individuals, first became a dwelling house, then was transformed into a restaurant, then the body of the barn was rehabilitated into guest rooms claiming the label of eco-habitat.
It is without surprise that the Henry family fell under the spell of this magical place and for Chantal, the opportunity to realize an old dream: to open a house and tables of hosts. Her son Timothé decided to join the adventure to share his passion for cooking.
A SPA will embellish in spring 2022 this magic place.....

About your hosts
Welcoming and sharing a certain art of living was a long-time dream for Chantal. And here it becomes reality when in 2020 the family decides to take over La Cour de Lise.
The historic restaurant is closing its doors, Chantal and her son Timothé share their passion for food and wine with simplicity and generosity by deciding to refocus on the guest house with their famous table d'hôtes. This place is also open for regular events: brunches, themed evenings, family parties or with friends, or for your professional seminars...
